BUILDING A TRANSCENDENT GAMING EXPERIENCE
Background
As one of the major manufacturers producing high performance memory kits, G.SKILL wanted to establish its own gaming product line and commissioned CRE8 to assist in the design of its new gaming mouse, keyboard, DRAMs, product packages, as well as the supporting software’s graphical user interface to build a dynamic experience for gamers.
Challenges
When we started with the product design and related visuals, our designers had to incorporate G.SKILL’s legacy of its super powerful overclocking capacities while infusing a premium feeling to balance the hardcore gaming style; the materials selection and design details also needed to reflect the theme of “defender”, combining robustness and enhanced modularity.
Solutions
TRIDENT Z RGB DDR4 MEMORY
The unique shape corresponds to its name – Trident – and facilitates excellent heat dissipation; the enhanced inner structure allows for a screw-free assembly, which is still strong enough to hold different parts. The fully-uncovered light bar unlocks limitless lighting combinations and started a trend in the market.
RIPJAWS KM780 GAMING KEYBOARD
This keyboard is built on a bent aluminum structure with premium anodized finishes to create a strong mechanical feeling, while the aluminum tubes around the keyboard serve as bumpers for excellent protection and structural support.
RIPJAWS MX780 GAMING MOUSE
The mouse features great ergonomics and customizability by implementing an ambidextrous approach with interchangeable magnetic side wings to adapt to different gestures by both hands.
SOFTWARE GUI & PRODUCT PACKAGING
A “black-on-black” color strategy is incorporated by both the interface and packaging to deliver a refined military-stealth style; the software layout allows for intuitive operation while the editing platform enables easy customization. Following G.SKILL’s solid brand identity, the packages with embossing treatment in armor-clad style leave a strong impression and entice potential customers to unbox them.
