Excelling in technology of high-quality LED light guide plates, COSTEC, established in the heart of Shenzhen, provides professional solutions for retail spaces and architecture. With solid R&D and production experiences, the company aspired to build a lifestyle-oriented consumer brand and invited CRE8 to join the naming as well as logo design process.
To break into international markets, our branding strategists consulted native speakers of different languages to ensure that the name can be easily pronounced and remembered; meanwhile, both the logo design and naming approach needed to center around the brand core values: wellness, eco-friendliness, smart, and high-tech.
The team looked for inspiration in mythologies and the Galaxy and came up with more than 100 names with modern tweaks. After multiple rounds of discussion with the client to narrow down options, the chosen one, Nerius, is a portmanteau of New Wave + Sirius, representing innovative design and the brightest star in the sky.
The negative space of the squared icon forms a capital letter “N”, which shapes a clear focus with forward feeling; the red dot on the small letter “i” symbolizes a photon, a particle of light. The selected color palette of red and black delivers dynamics and confidence demonstrating leadership in advanced lighting technology.
